Mindfulness
Through Movement And In Therapy
Mindfulness is a proven approach to managing stress, anxiety, and overwhelming emotions. In my practice, I integrate mindfulness with psychological strategies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help build resilience and enhance well-being. Mindfulness isn’t just about meditation—it’s about staying present, managing thoughts effectively, and cultivating calm in daily life.
Mindful walking in nature is a practical way to engage with mindfulness, combining movement, fresh air, and awareness. Many people find it easier than traditional seated meditation.
Integrating Mindfulness into Counselling
In both office and phone sessions and in a Walk and Talk setting, I try to incorporate mindfulness in practical ways. My goal is to equip you with skills that extend beyond our sessions, helping you manage stress and navigate challenges with greater ease.
Mindfulness isn’t about eliminating stress—it’s about learning how to manage it effectively. Whether you’re looking for structured CBT techniques or a more experiential approach like moving meditation, we’ll find what works best for you.
How can Moving out in Nature help?
- Reduces Stress and Anxiety – Research shows that mindful movement lowers stress hormones and promotes relaxation. Walking in nature enhances this effect by reducing mental fatigue and improving mood.
- Improves Emotional Regulation – Practicing mindfulness while walking helps you become more aware of your thoughts and emotions, making it easier to manage difficult feelings.
- Complements Therapy Techniques – Mindfulness works well alongside CBT and other psychological strategies I use in counselling. It helps reinforce skills such as emotional awareness, cognitive flexibility, and distress tolerance.
- Boosts Mental Clarity – Gentle movement while focusing on the present moment can help clear mental clutter and improve decision-making.
How Mindfulness can work – in the counselling sessions
During sessions, I integrate mindfulness in practical ways, whether we’re working together in a traditional setting or during the Walk and Talk option.
I guide you in using mindfulness techniques that fit your lifestyle, so you can take them beyond the session and apply them in daily life.

How is this different?
This is more relaxed and more flexible than you may be thinking, when you think of counselling.
I can meet you in a café – if you prefer. This may seem odd but more people are choosing to do this. For some people, the thought of going into an office to talk to a stranger about personal problems is too daunting.
This is a more relaxed setting and can be closer to home or at a café that you are comfy at! The goal is for you to get more out of each session so we can get to know each other better, so I can assist you more.
