Supporting People With Cancer
And Their Carers

Receiving a life-limiting diagnosis or navigating the impact of cancer—whether personally or as a loved one—can be overwhelming. The emotional, physical, and practical challenges can feel isolating, but you don’t have to face them alone.

With years of experience in breast cancer support, palliative care (across hospice, hospital, home, and community settings), and working with Carers WA, I am deeply committed to providing compassionate, person-centered support during this time.

My approach is tailored to your needs, whether you’re adjusting to a diagnosis, coping with treatment side effects, managing fear and uncertainty, or navigating the impact on relationships.

I offer a space to explore your emotions, discuss difficult topics and develop strategies to help you find meaning and connection, even in the face of serious illness. I also support family members, friends and caregivers, acknowledging the profound impact that a loved one’s illness can have on those around them.

Counselling for Carers: Supporting those who care for others

Some issues are specific to family carers. Caring for a loved one can sometimes be rewarding, but at the same time can be exhausting, isolating and emotionally overwhelming. Many carers put their own needs last, leading to burnout and distress.

My job is to support you, while you support others. I feel extremely strongly about this and have chosen across my career to work specifically with family carers.

I specialise in helping carers navigate the emotional and practical challenges of their role, including:

  • Managing stress, guilt and exhaustion
  • Finding balance between caring and ‘self-care’ (many people laugh at this word and really do not even know where to begin to grab a moment to themselves, let alone finding time regularly do something healthy or beneficial!)
  • Coping with grief and anticipatory loss

As someone with extensive experience supporting carers, I understand that you will be facing struggles unique to your situation; you deserve support and to be heard.
Through my partnership with the Cancer Council of WA, I can offer subsidised sessions, including four free sessions for Helpline clients. This support ensures that those who need counselling the most can access it without financial barriers.

My goal is to create an environment where cancer care is individualised, holistic, and person-focused, helping each person feel seen, heard, and supported.
